Saturday & Sunday April 29th & 30th - Blake Island Camping Trip.  We'll meet at Southworth at 10am Saturday.  Will plan to return about 11am Sunday.  Note that you could do a day paddle either Saturday or Sunday -- come visit the campers.  Jim Davis will lead 759-5616.

May 2006

Saturday May 13th - Night Paddle in the Full Moon.  If you want to paddle into the night, here is your chance.  We'll meet at the Gig harbor boat launch at 7:30pm.  Jenny & Paul will be leading somewhere, be a leader 253-851-2968.

Saturday August 5th - Dash Point Paddle.  Jim Davis 253 759-5616 will lead.  Meet at Dash Point Park (not the State Park).  The paddle will start at  2:30pm due to tides.

January 2005  

January 1st - Annual American Lake Paddle.  Leave Gig Harbor park n' ride at 9:00am.  Meet other paddlers at I-5/512 park & ride at 9:30am.  Paddle begins at 10:am at American Lake boat launch.  We'll caravan to the boat launch.  If you're planning to go, call Jim Davis 253-759-5616.

  January 23rd - Blake Island Circumnavigation.  Meet at Southworth ferry at 9:00am.  Bring a lunch.  If you're coming, call Jenny Berlin 253-851-2968.

February 5th - Madison Harbor & Faye Bainbridge State Park.  Meet at the Gig Harbor park n' ride at 9:00am.  We will launch at Old Man House.  We'll caravan.  If you're going, call Jim Davis 253-759-5616

February 11th - Night Paddle.  Meet at the Gig Harbor boat launch at 7:30pm.  Phil Lynch will lead 253-851-8542  

February 26th - Weathers Property & Narrows Bridge Look.  We'll also explore Wollochet Bay.  We'll launch at 11:00am at the Weathers Property.   If you're coming, call Jenny Berlin 253-851-2968.  She can provide directions -- it is a bit tricky to find during bridge construction.

March 2005

March 19th - Lake Union Paddle.  leave Gig harbor park n' ride at 8:30am.  meet other paddlers at the I-5/Enchanted Village Rest Stop at 9:00am.  We'll caravan to Lake Union.   We're hoping that Frank Satta can be our leader (haven't call him yet) . 

March 13th - Possible Pool Practice.  Detail to follow.

April 2005  

April 3rd - Dyes Inlet Paddle.  Leave Gig harbor park n' ride at 9:15am.  Detail will follow.  Phil Lynch will be our paddle leader 253-851-8542 .  

April 23rd - Boston Harbor & Olympia Area Paddle.  Details to follow.  We're hoping that the Marty & Sally Olson will lead us (again - haven't call them yet)

May 21st & 22nd - Kayak Symposium  Owens Beach. If you're interested in a new kayak or new kayak equipment, then you might want to explore at the Symposium.  Where will be a fee.

Saturday June 25th & Sunday June 26th  - Hope Island Camping Trip.  We'll meet at Gig harbor Park n' Ride at 8:30am Saturday morning.  We'll drive to the Hartstene Bridge.  We'll camp on Hope Island Saturday night.  We'll head home Sunday about noon.  Be sure to call Jim Davis 253-759-5616, if you plan on going.

July 2005

Saturday July 2nd through Tuesday July 5th - No paddling is planned.  But we're still dreaming about a Fireworks Paddle (Thea Foss) or Camping Trip (Blake Island) -- any future leaders out there?   If so, call Phil or Jim.

Saturday July 9th - Training Paddle - Gig Harbor..  We'll meet at Gig Harbor boat launch at 10am.  [Training Paddle -- you know who you are.  All club members are welcome to help Jim with the "training".]  Jim will lead 253-759-5616.

Friday July 15th - Jim Davis (your club president) RETIRES.  Opps...how did this get in here.  he retires after 37 years with Weyerhaeuser -- now he can paddle any day he wants....

Saturday July 23th - Training Paddle - Owens Beach.  We'll meet at owens Beach at 10am.  [Training Paddle -- All club members are welcome to help Jim with the "training".]   Jim will lead 253-759-5616.

August 2005

Saturday August 20th - Last Training Packing & Paddle.  We'll meet at Jim Davis' house (call for directions) at 10am.  [Mandatory for folks in training -- they are now kayaking animals.]  Club members welcome - Jim will supervising the packing of 2 doubles and 4 singles.  THEN - when we head for Thea Foss Park (about 2pm -- time may very -- better to stop by Jim's house first.  Any questions call Jim at 253-759-5616.

Saturday August 27th ---- Friday September 9th - 8 Day Green River Kayak Trip.  The Green River is on southern Utha.  [Jim's group is "full".]  if you are interested, a second group could be organizaed.  Call Jenny or Phil or Jim.

January means DUES are due.  It has been two years since we last collected...so begin thinking $20.

January 1st (Thursday) --  Annual American Lake Paddle.  We'll leave the Gig harbor Park-n-ride at 9am.  We'll meet at McDonald's at 512 about 9:30am.  If you don't like football games, then join us crazy kayakers.  If you plan on going, call Jim or Phil 759-5616 or 851-8542.

January 18th (Sunday) -  Thea Foss Paddle.  Meet at Thea Foss Park at 10am.  The paddle leader is Jim Davis 759-5616.

January 31st (Saturday) -  [NOT A PADDLE]  Kopachuck Cascade Marine Trail Site - Work Party.  The club has agreed to monitor the Kopachuck site.  Meet at the Gig Harbor park n' ride at 12:30pm -- we can do some car pooling.  Bring a rake - shovel - clippers - etc.  Contact Phil at  851-8542, if you have any questions.

February 28th (Saturday) - Pool Practice.  Meet at the Peninsula High School pool at 1am.  We have the pool for 2 hours.  Come practice your self-rescues and rolls.  make sure that your kayaks are CLEAN -- thanks.  Call Jenny & Paul at 851-2968, if you have any questions.

March 2004

March 27th (Saturday) - Ollala Paddle.  Meet at the Purdy park n' ride at 8;15am.  We should be in the water in Olalla by 9am.  The paddle leader is Jim Davis 759-5616.

April 2004

April 3rd (Saturday) -  Horsehead Bay to Kapachuck Paddle.  Just an easy paddle to check out the Cascade Marine Trail Site now that the club is "keeping on eye on it".   Meet at 11am -- bring a lunch.  The paddle leader is Phil Lynch 851-8542.

April 10 (Saturday) - Club Potluck.  Meet at the Gig Harbor Library at 6pm.  The club will provide the drinks -- you provide the food.  We'll eat at 6pm -- the presentation will start around 7pm.  Simon and Carol Ridley will make a presentation on an expedition that paddled around Iceland this last summer.  Be sure to let Phil know if you plan to attend, so we can get a count.  Call Phil 851-8542 for other details.  

April 16th & 17th & 18th (Friday through Sunday) - Bowman Bay /Deception Pass.  If you are interested or have questions, call Marty & Sally Olson 841-2844.

[Date Change] April 17th (Saturday) - Duwamish River Paddle.  Meet at the Gig Harbor park n' ride at 8:30am.  Plan on an early lunch in Seattle.  The paddle leader is Betty Westby 846-4041 and Phil Lynch 851-8542.

April 23rd & 24th & 25th (Friday through Sunday) - Yellow Island in the San Juan Islands.  We drive to Anacordes Thursday night, so that we can catch the San Juan Island ferry early Saturday morning.  If you are interested, contact Phil Lynch 851-8542.

May 15th (Saturday Night) - Dinner Paddle Ketron Island.  This is serious dinning.  It was one of the best paddles last year.  If you are interested or have questions, call Marty & Sally Olson 841-2844.

May 29th & 30th & 31st (Saturday through Monday) - Blake Island Camping Trip.  Meet at Southworth at 9am on Saturday.  If you want to do a day paddle on Saturday -Sunday - Monday morning, join us.  The paddle leaders are Jim Davis 759-5616 & Phil Lynch 851-8542.  Some of us will be going over Friday night.

July 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th (Friday through Monday) - South Gulf Islands Camping.   Jim will be leading a weekend camping trip into the Gulf Islands .  Our plan is to ferry to Sidney -- paddle to Rum Is -- paddle to Portland Is -- paddle back to Sidney -- ferry back to Anacordes.  I have 5 paddlers planning to join me ---  call Jim 759-5616. 

July 9th (Friday Night) - Gig Harbor Night Paddle.  Note the time change.  The paddle will start at 8pm at the boat launch.  Jenny will lead 851-2968.

July 24th & 25th (Saturday through Sunday) - Sound Sound Camping Trip.  We're headed to Hope Island.  But the details haven't been worked out yet.  Jim will be leading 759-5616.

August 14th & 15th (Saturday & Sunday) -  Camping trip to Blake Island.  This will be a training paddle for the Broken Island trip in September.  Launch from Southworth at 10am Saturday & Return at Noon on Sunday.  So join us for a day paddle.  Be sure to call Jim so he knows whose coming 759-5616.

August 28th (Saturday) - Westport Surf Paddle.  You will need a wet suit or dry suit and a helmet.  If you are interested or have questions, call Marty & Sally Olson 841-2844.

September 10th through 17th - Broken Island Camping Adventure.  If you are interested or have questions, call Jim Davis 759-5616.  Jim will be preparing an itinerary due out in August.

September 11th -  Heritage Paddle.  Third annual commemorative human-powered row to Tacoma and back just like they used to do years ago before there were ferries and bridges. Starts at 9am at Jerisch Park, approximately 8 miles roundtrip paddle.  There is a fee.  The club is a sponsor for this event.

September 17th through 19th - Hope Island Kayak & Camping.  If you are interested or have questions, call Marty & Sally Olson 841-2844.

September 25th  - Foss Waterway.  launch at Thea Foss Park at 10am.  Jim will lead 759-5616.

April 15th - May 15th - Baja Paddle Vacation.  Marty & Sally are driving to the Baja to paddle.  This is another example of the paddle vacation.  If you are interested in convoying to Mexico , give Marty & Sally a call 841-2844.  They plan on paddling the Pacific Coast from Rosarito Beach to San Quintin.

April 21st - May 2nd -  Baja Trip just didn't work out...we'll decided on Costa Rica instead.

March 1 - Quartermaster via Owens Beach Paddle  Grab your kayaks and get ready for a multi-hour trip on unfamiliar waters close to home. Let's meet at 9 AM at Owen Beach, Point Defiance Park.  We'll put into the water at 9:15.  If the weather dictates, we'll just stick to the shoreline and tour the park, the old smelter, and the Ruston Way waterfront.  Bring a light lunch or snack for half time! September 19, 20, 21 - Port Townsend Kayak Symposium.  Go try out lots of different kayaks and look at all the the for sale. Fee is around $50

October 25th & 26th -   Blake Island Camping Trip (bring your long johns)   Meet at Southworth about 10am Saturday.  We'll be starting back Sunday about 11am.  Rumor has it that Jim is making breakfast Sunday morning.  Call Jim or Phil 759-5616 or 851-8542.

December 2003

December 13th -  BIG EVENT Gig Harbor Boat Parade & Ice Cream Social  (be sure to mark your calendar)   We will meet at the boat launch around 5:30pm.  We will find ourselves a great spot to watch the Boat Parade.  Call Jim & Phil 759-5616 or 851-8542 about the paddle.

Ice Cream Social - After the Parade (guessing about 7:30pm-ish), we are having an Ice Cream Social at the Gig Harbor Kayak Center.  This is NOT a "potluck".  Your club officers will be serving up the "best Sunday" with all the fixings.  Oh yes...you don't need to even paddle to go to the club social.  I heard that Santa loves ice cream in December -- it is how he fattens up for the Christmas.  Call Jenny 851-2968 about the Ice Cream Social (we would like an approximate count for the social).

December 20th -  Christmas Caroling Paddle  We will meet at the Gig Harbor boat launch about 7pm.  You will be given song sheets.  Some paddlers plan to decorate their kayaks for this event.  If you plan on caroling, call Jim or Phil 759-5616 or 851-8542.

December 26th 2003 - Orca Search Ketron & Anderson Islands & Nisqually Delta.   We'll follow the Chum salmon and see if the orcas are around.  Marty & Sally Olson 841-2844.

June 15-16th - Sunshine Beach (Hood Canal near Silverdale), car camp.  Leave Gig Harbor Park & Ride at 9:00 am.  Set up camp and day paddle around 11:00.  Sunday paddle after breakfast.  Come paddle for either day or spend the night.  Jim Davis leads. 

June 29 - July 5th - Fort Ebey on Whidbey Island and Fort Flagler on Marrowstone Island.  Car Camp, multi-sport trip.  Marty Olson (ahmagicfingers@webtv.net) leads.
