Refreshments will be available

Spring is upon us despite the snows of late March. There are  lots of great events coming up this Spring and Summer, so clean up your bird and come to the next fleet meeting to get the latest information on the Opening Day festivities in Seattle, the NOOD Regatta at Shilshole, our traditional Fleet #1 Rendezvous at Dockton, and the 50th Anniversary Rendezvous in Gig Harbor.

Banquet Report

Our traditional holiday Banquet was well attended by 12 T-Bird families. The list of attendees included, Mary and Gerry Dryer, Jaime Storkman, Harry Proctor and his very new family, Marvin Lew, Debbie and Gary Davis, Terry and Shar Raat (from Denver) who brought along their grand children, Lee Anne and Eric Egge, Bill Price, Mile Tunney (thanks for the great ham and potato dish, Kevin Gardener, Eric Kiesel and Berit Kvaernes and Ed Josberger.

Winners of the perpetual trophies were (thanks to Gerry Dryer for the great pictures):

The Lead bird for the most embarrassing mishap went to Terry Raat for painting his cabin ceiling 4 times, or was it 5?

The first cruising trophy was awarded to Ed and Berit for 4 nights out.  They spent one night at Blake Island, two nights at CWB, and one night at Penrose Pt.

The second cruising trophy went to Mike Tunney.  We missed the Van Attas who usually win this trophy hands down.

Kevin Gardener received the restoration award for his work on #28.  I understand that it will be back in the water this May!

Bill Price got to keep the Top-Bird trophy.

A special award went to Tanner Anderson, for the youngest cruiser in the fleet.  Watch for trophies like this at the 50th Rendezvous Regatta.

Islands Race March 15, 2008.

This was a special Islands Race, it was the first South Sound Series Race that took place under Daylight savings time; Rowdy and Snowbird were the only Birds out.  The race started in a light southerly and statyed that way all day.  The trick was to keep the boat going and watch for the shifts.  The race committee exercised prudent discretion and shortened the course at Blake Island.  In a well sailed race,  Rowdy took first in our Division and Snowbird was third.  For complete results and a boat load of pictures go to:

50th Rendezvous report:

Plans for the 50th are coming together.  Check out the 50th web page by clicking on the logo above or click on this address:  http://www.tbird50years.com/ ,

Thanks to LeeAnne Egge for this great web site.

There is still a lot to be done, and lots of help needed.  If you want to help out get in touch with Gary Davis at GARYD_55@MSN.COM  or 360-692-1437.

Finally, a group of intrepid boat wrights, lead by Gerry Dryer, have been scraping, sanding and cleaning #1, to get her ready for the 50th.

Ed Josberger, Mike Daly and Jack Kennedy taking a well deserved break.  Hey where is the coffee and donuts?
