Report and pictures from the Save the Eddon Boat Yard Rally, October 12, 2004
At the Fleet meeting of October 8, John McMillen brought Fleet 1 up to date on the movement by the City of Gig harbor to acquire the Eddon Boat Yard and surrounding properties to preserve the historic boat yard and to make a water front park. The Eddon Boat yard is where Ben Seaborn worked with Ed Hoppen to build the first Thunderbirds, nearly 50 years ago. In order to bring out the vote, The Save the Eddon Boat Yard Group had a rally at the yard on Tuesday, October 12 at 5:00pm. John must have inspired us as 6 boats from Fleet-1 turned out to lend their support. He certainly inspired the citizens of Gig Harbor, as the bond passed!!!
