The Minnesota Schweiss Family

"The surname Schweiss originated from the German word for the smelding (sweating) of metals from the corresponding ore. This metallic origin is still retained in the German word for welder (Schweisser)"

This Schweiss line goes back to Michael and Barbara (Hehr) Schweiss, in the Bavarian Village of Thierberg ( by Scheinfeld ), Germany ... They had one (known) son, Georg(e), born on 21 June, 1805. Georg married Anna Maria Hutzler, on 2 October,1838, in Kornhöfstadt, Kreis Scheinfeld, Bavaria, Germany. They had a (known) son, Adam (dob 16 March,1842). Adam married Margaretha Meltreter (Mehltrater), on 24 August,1868, in Kornhöfstadt. They had the following children ... George, John, Apollonia, Fredrick, and Dorothy.
